ABOUT ME

Born and raised in Penang, Sim Jun Hui joined George Town World Heritage Incorporated as a Cultural Heritage Officer in 2017. Previously a high school art teacher, she applies her knowledge of art, culture and creative industry in her work to facilitate local communities, inherited traders, artisans and practitioners to explore, document, develop, and promote their cultural assets, as well as raise awareness on the cultural heritage of George Town. Her recent projects include Empowering Local Communities Through Creative Industry, Interpretation Centres and Museums in the Heritage City of George Town, George Town World Heritage Incorporated Heritage Recognition and Awards, and Cultural Heritage Education Programme.

I am a friendly Site Manager because I enjoy connecting and helping the local communities through engagement and collaborations. These collaborations are formed through  conversations, networking and partnerships in our community-centred projects. I have come to realise that appreciating each other’s effort is as significant as heritage conservation and preservation. After all, small actions can put forth a big impact and maintaining the Outstanding Universal Value of George Town is a collective effort.
