They have been using the same glove puppets, musical instruments, and equipment for two generations. After Mr. Ng moved to Butterworth, Penang, the troupe began to perform actively in the northern region. After the passing of Mr. Ng Yak Sin, the troupe was inherited by his son, Mr. Ng Hock Chai. He joined the troupe as a member of the backstage crew when he was 18 years old. During his time with the troupe, he learnt to play various musical instruments. In recent years, as Mr. Ng Hock Chai has gotten older, he gradually handed over the leadership of the troupe to his nephew, Mr. Ng Chong Yeong. Mr. Ng Chong Yeong spent most of his childhood days with the troupe, and now plays the role of band leader. Back in the old days, each troupe member was able to play a multitude of traditional music instruments, such as gong, cymbals, drum, “khok wa” (southern wood block), ‘tik tik” (small wooden block) and many more.
