Beng Geok Hong's members are mostly in their 60s and 70s, and most of them have been in the industry since they were young, therefore they are able to play a variety of characters and musical instruments even without a script or musical score. The troupe is made up of four members who are skilled in manipulating glove puppets, singing, playing drums, Suona (Chinese Trumpet), and gongs. Beng Geok Hong is often invited to perform not only in Penang, but also in Kedah, Perak, and other states in the country.
