The hotel was made up of 4 units of shophouse buildings, it is located at Lorong Pasar, which is in the core zone of George Town UNESCO Heritage Site. After restoration, the shophouse building which was built in 1850 has been given a new breath. They have 20 choices of rooms in which it remains the original Southern Chinese Eclectic typography, where this typography was built in the 1840s to 1900s. This three-storey shophouse belongs to Seh Tek Tong Cheah Kongsi and the premises were occupied by Yin Oi Tong Medical Hall 仁愛堂 from circa 1885 until 2009. The premises were taken over by Green Buildings Sdn. Bhd. in 2010. They carried out major restoration works at RM3 million, and were completed in 2013. The façade has been restored with louvre glass windows and the entire roof was restored to its original pitch. The corrugated roof was replaced with V-tiles while the upper wooden floors were restored and replaced with recycled old timber. The airwells, original staircase and courtyard were restored to allow natural light to enter and provide constant airflow throughout the building. The entire building has been replastered with lime and finished with limewash, creating a cooler hue as opposed to chemical paint. The restored Ren I Tang currently hosts the Bistro Tang cafe and the traditional Chinese medical museum display on the ground floor, while the Heritage Inn accommodation consists of 17 cozy rooms on the first and second floors. Bistro Tang serves Oriental and Western cuisine, with vegetarian food being available on the menu as well. The traditional Chinese medical museum display highlights the history of Yin Oi Tong Chinese Medical Hall, showcasing nostalgic items that were used in the olden days.
