ABOUT ME
Siew Jing developed a passion for cultural heritage while undergoing her industrial placement at an architectural conservation firm for her Bachelor’s degree in building surveying. Upon graduation, she joined the field of heritage conservation for several years as an assistant conservator before taking the MSc Sustainable Heritage programme at UCL, where she was exposed to conservation practices in the UK in the context of museums, collections, heritage buildings and historic landscapes. In 2022, Siew Jing joined George Town World Heritage Incorporated as a Built Environment and Management Officer. She aims to apply her experiences in architectural conservation and strategic thinking skills to not only protect and preserve cultural heritage but also to ensure its sustainability.
I am a thoughtful Site Manager because I am always thinking about what works better for the site and for the local community. Interacting with people from all walks of life is my daily work routine and it is how I gain a sense of fulfilment. I find joy in resolving their issues, providing clarity to their doubts, or even just helping them unlock a door. Seeing the smile on their faces makes my work all the more rewarding.
