ABOUT ME
Siew Jing developed a passion for cultural heritage during her industrial placement at an architectural conservation firm while pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Building Surveying. After graduating, she worked for several years as an assistant conservator in heritage conservation. She later enrolled in the MSc Sustainable Heritage program at UCL, where she gained insights into conservation practices in the UK, focusing on museums, collections, heritage buildings, and historic landscapes.
In 2022, Siew Jing joined George Town World Heritage Incorporated as a Built Environment and Management Officer. In this role, she aims to apply her experience in architectural conservation and her strategic thinking skills to protect and preserve cultural heritage while ensuring its sustainability. Starting in 2024, she also serves as the Special Officer to the General Manager, which has allowed her to expand her expertise into World Heritage site management, board governance, organisational direction, and operational strategies.
I am a thoughtful Site Manager because I am always thinking about what works better for the site and for the local community. Interacting with people from all walks of life is my daily work routine and it is how I gain a sense of fulfilment. I find joy in resolving their issues, providing clarity to their doubts, or even just helping them unlock a door. Seeing the smile on their faces makes my work all the more rewarding.
