George Town World Heritage Incorporated (GTWHI) Visiting Fellowship Programme
George Town World Heritage Incorporated (GTWHI) invites World Heritage Site Managers and Cultural Heritage Professionals from all around the world to apply for the GTWHI Visiting Fellowship Programme.
Objectives
- To promote understanding of GTWHI’s function as a World Heritage Site Manager.
- To exchange site management systems and work culture.
- To enhance understanding of the multicultural heritage in George Town.
- To strengthen networking and collaboration with international partners on Cultural Heritage Site Management.
About the Fellowship
- Six fellowships are available each year. Application will be open from 1 April 2025 and close by the 31 May 2025.
- Applicants shall indicate their preferred commencement date (any date from 1 June 2025 to 31 May 2026) in the Application Form.
- The selected fellows will be granted a working space at GTWHI for one month and be invited to contribute in the Site Management activities and work closely with the local community.
- A one-off honorarium of Ringgit Malaysia Two Thousand Five Hundred Only (RM2,500.00) will be provided to the successful fellows.
Application
- Fill in the Online Application Form from 1 April 2025 to 31 May 2025.
- The Programme Selection Committee will contact the shortlisted candidates for an interview in early June 2025. Successful candidates will be notified via email by mid June 2025.
- We will announce the list of successful fellows on the George Town World Heritage Incorporated website and social media.
Eligibility and Requirements
- The applicant must be affiliated with an established cultural heritage institution or World Heritage Site Manager agency for at least five years.
- The applicant must be at least 30 years old and not more than 60 years old at the time of application.
- This programme is open to Malaysians and any nationality that has no immigration restrictions to enter Malaysia.
- The applicant must have good command in both written and spoken English.
- The applicant shall possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and can adapt to a multicultural working environment.
- The selected fellow is responsible for obtaining their own visas and any other arrangements.
- The selected fellow is responsible for financing their travels to and from George Town, Penang.
- The selected fellow must provide proof of a comprehensive health insurance plan which is valid in Malaysia throughout the duration of the programme.
Termination
GTWHI reserves the right to terminate the programme at any time.
