The George Town Heritage Celebrations returns for its 18th edition, inviting you to experience the living stories of George Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site shaped by generations of culture and community.
Kongsi Cerita — A Celebration of Stories and Traditions
Step into the everyday life of George Town, where stories are not only found in legends, but also in simple routines, shared meals, and familiar traditions.
This year’s theme, Kongsi Cerita, invites us to slow down and take a closer look at the practices, foods, arts, and traditions that shape the city’s diverse communities. Many of these traditions are passed down quietly from one generation to another, so familiar that we may overlook the history and meaning behind them.
Over four days, 51 community partners come together to share these stories. Through their participation, we get to see how heritage is lived and experienced today, and how it continues to connect people, communities, and identity within the everyday spaces of George Town.
