George Town Heritage Celebrations (GTHC) 2025 is BACK for its 17th edition—and this year, we’re unlocking the magic of Penang’s past like never before!
With the enchanting theme “Doors and Doorways,” we invite you to walk through time, explore hidden stories, and celebrate the vibrant living heritage that makes George Town a UNESCO World Heritage Site. More than just physical entrances, doors and doorways symbolize transitions, connections, and discovery — they represent the passage between past and present, tradition and modernity, community and individuality.
This year’s theme encourages everyone to reflect on their own personal and cultural journeys, to appreciate the thresholds we cross in life, and to uncover the rich layers of stories that lie just beyond the surface. Get ready for a diverse lineup of performances, hands-on workshops, fascinating Foodways with languages, and so much more.
