Cultural Heritage Book Giveaway to Educational Institutions in Malaysia
In conjunction with George Town World Heritage Incorporated’s 10th Anniversary Celebration this year, George Town World Heritage Incorporated is inviting all primary and secondary schools, colleges, and universities in Malaysia to participate in our Cultural Heritage Book Giveaway programme.
This initiative aims to educate students on cultural heritage such as the knowledge and skills of traditional trades and arts, heritage buildings, historic locations, and traditions. It will instil appreciation among the younger generation towards our shared cultural heritage and the importance of safeguarding efforts. We also hope to raise awareness on Penang’s diverse and multicultural communities, traditions, practices, and festive events which are the intangible cultural heritage of Penang.
Each book set is valued at RM723, and consists of six titles, which are Epitaph: The Northam Road Protestant Cemetery (Volumes 1 and 2), George Town: Our Stories, George Town’s Historic Commercial and Civic Precincts, Little India of George Town, Penang’s Living Legacy – Heritage Traders of George Town, and POTEHI – Glove Puppet Theatre of Penang.
Each educational institution is entitled to receive one set of books only. Educational institutions which have already received the book sets in 2018 are not eligible for this giveaway. Eligible educational institutions will be notified via email to collect the books at the George Town World Heritage Incorporated office or pay for postage if they are unable to collect the books.
The deadline for application is on 30 November 2020. Interested educational institutions may apply online at https://forms.gle/
